White Oak is one of the country's most well-known regenerative farms, spanning over 3,200 acres in Southwest Georgia. This sixth-generation family farm raises multiple species of livestock the old-fashioned way and has built an international reputation for its environmental stewardship, humane animal welfare, and commitment to revitalizing the surrounding rural community. Owner Will Harris has earned numerous sustainability awards, turned the farm into a certified zero-waste operation, written the book A Bold Return to Giving a Damn, and been featured by The New York Times, NPR, Forbes, BBC, and even The Joe Rogan Experience.
We were commissioned to design and paint a 450-square-foot mural on the site of the farm's original butcher shop buildings in historic Bluffton. The building is being transformed into a space where visitors can watch the traditional process of harvesting, grinding, and boiling sugar cane into syrup, part of White Oak's ongoing effort to keep agricultural heritage alive.
The mural follows that process from field to finished product. The left side portrays people harvesting the crop, while the right transitions into a traditional hand-operated grinder and a barrel collecting fresh cane juice. The goal was to blend storytelling with large-scale environmental art, capturing the craftsmanship and history on which White Oak Pastures is built.
